Life record of Father Timotheus Hohulin
Youngest son of Gottlieb and Augustena (Wenger) Hohulin. Born February 16, 1871, in a log cabin on a farm near Eureka, Illinois. After his short country schooling, he worked on his father’s farm. In September 1890 he went to Morton Illinois for three years, learning the blacksmith trade. In September 1893 with two brothers John and Samuel established the firm known as the Hohulin Brothers at Goodfield, Illinois. Selling hardware implements, buggies and wagons. Also operated a blacksmith and machine shop. A little while later adding to their business a general store under the name Hohulin Grocery Company.
June 1894, he repented and was baptized in the Machinaw river, by Elder Michael Zimmerman of the Apostolic Christian Church at Mackinaw Dells.
In 1897 founded the Hohulin Brother manufacturing company. Making ornamental steel fences and porch railings. Is now under the management of Hohulin Brothers. The six sons of Samuel Hohulin.
On Sunday April 17, 1898, was united in marriage to Leah Plattner, by Elder Michael Zimmerman of the Apostolic Christian Church at Mackinaw Dells. To this union nine children were born.
Bought a home and lived at Goodfield till March 1907, with his family moved to Morris Minnesota, where they bought a farm eight miles from Morris, build all new buildings, lived there until October 1921, moved to a farm near Fort Scott, Kansas. Where they fought floods drouths and hard times, in March 1932 moved to Peoria Illinois, bought a home at 1205 East Nebraska Avenue, did yard work, also worked at the Caterpillar Tractor co.
His children have grown to manhood and womanhood, all living in or near Peoria, Illinois.
