Life history of Ella Hohulin
Ninth child – Ella the youngest was born January 19, 1921, at our country home in Stevens County, Near Morris, Minnesota. Mom got a surprise package as she was past 45 years of age, when Ella was born. Hanna (who loved children) cared for Ella from the time she was nine months old. (Ella was more like Hannah’s own child than her baby sister.)
From Ella’s baby days though her dating days she brought all her little hurts and life’s problems to “Hanker”.
In October 1921 moved with her parents to Fort Scott, Kansas. Would ride Queen to the West Plain school. Ella had a lot of little pets, blue eyed Sally the cat.
Moved to Peoria, Illinois in March 1932, Ella was a girl scout. Graduated from Glen Oak school, went to Peoria High School. Had fun doing the things that teenagers did. Worked after school at the Welzenbach’s and Dixons, worked at the Kresge store, and at the Glen Oak Bakery Co. for two years.
On Saturday April 12, 1941, Ella Hohulin and Howard H. Musselman were married by Rev. Detweiler of the Glen Oak Christian Church. Howard the youngest son of Ernest and Anna (Kurth) Mussleman was born on June 14, 1917. “Howard was better known as Snap.”
To this union three daughters were born.

Ella and Howard have a beautiful home on Ellis Street in Peoria. They enjoy their home, and entertaining friends.
Ella is a wonderful mother, and a good homemaker, a kind wife.
Ella repented February 2, 1949 was baptized Sunday April 3, 1949 by Elder Emil Schubert at the Apostolic Christian Church.
October 14, 1950 Ella came to the bakery to get Hank, Howard wanted to talk with me. I will never forget the picture of deep sorrow I saw as I entered their living room, Howard was at the piano playing hymns, the tears of repentance falling like rain. I said Howard “God will help you.” Howard was the last person baptized in the old Apostolic Christian Church on Green Street in Peoria, Illinois November 1950 was proved by Elder Schrock.
We are thankful to God, that Ella and Howard are a child of God.
Dec. 3, 1950 was the first Sunday we held services in the new Church, Mom enjoys the deaf section, she has not heard a sermon for 15 years. Ella and Howard take Mom and Hank to church every Sunday. God will repay them for their deeds of Kindness.
