The twins are as alike as two peas in a pod, cannot tell one from the other. John a sweet little boy, a sweet little boy, a surprise package.
John, our sailor son and brother, is quiet and kind, always ready to give a lift to anyone in need. Enjoys bowling and swimming.
Left for the Navy on the midnight train January 17, 1944, was sent to Farrigut, Idaho for his six week boot training. Was home for his birthday on March 12, had a birthday cake and dinner. On March 18 returned to Farrigut, Hank went with John on the train as far as Morris, Minnesota spent a week with Irma Dablow. I will never forget the nice visit John and I had on the train. Took turns taking John’s sailor buddies with us to the diner. When the train stopped at Morris to leave Hank off, the Dablows, Sommers and Rinkenbergers were at the depot, to see John and give him packages of cookies and fruit, as long as I could see the train go around the bend, John was waving “Goodbye”. John spent 3 months in Shoemaker, California was sent overseas July 7, 1944 returned December 7, 1945 to his homeland shore. God led John every step every mile of the way, safe home.
John did a lot of the building on their new home in Morton, Ill. Now drives a truck for Hicks Oil Co. Hank likes to go with him on short trips now and then, for a Chicken dinner.
